What ages of children do you typically work with?
How far do you travel?
I am licensed in Texas and Colorado. I practice primarily in the North area of Austin Texas and travel quarterly to Colorado. Services provided for clients in locations distant from Austin include travel fees. Typically in this case services are provided through an intensive integrated approach.
Do you offer in-home therapy?
Home Therapy is primarily what I offer. This may include outings to the playground or community pool or a restaurant or grocery store. There are many skills which can be applied in these environments to increase carry over.
How far in advance do you typically schedule sessions?
The process can take 1-2 weeks if local to Austin. The process requires a prescription from your child’s doctor for Occupational Therapy Evaluation and Treatment as indicated. The parent or guardian must complete all administrative forms and submit them to the OTR to plan which assessments are appropriate for your child’s situation. This allows for a more accurate determination of the time and cost involved.
Once the evaluation is completed and the assessment written, the OTR will meet with the parent/guardian for consultation to determine the most effective plan of care and discharge. During this consultation, the frequency and duration of occupational therapy are discussed. The schedule is determined at that time.
In distant locations such as Colorado, I aim to complete the evaluation, assessment, and consultation within 24-48 hours to allow for one treatment session to be conducted and the beginning home program to be designed.
What can parents do to help facilitate our child’s healing?
As parents participate in treatment and comply with the home program, I find the most success for the kids in my care.
Allowing yourself to view your child as an individual who has a unique set of strengths and strategies handy to address life’s challenges will help shape how your child views him or herself. With this positive perspective, you can advocate for your child by helping others to see his or her possibilities for skill development are endless.
Do you accept insurance?
We do not accept insurance; however, I will provide the parent/ guardian with an itemized receipt including the billing codes and treatment notes and my NPI number. This will allow you to submit to your insurance company. We can not guarantee your insurance company reimbursement.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations require at least 2 weeks notice and travel fees are non-refundable.
How does your billing agreement work?
Payment for each session is required at the time the session is booked. The plan of care is discussed with the parent at the time of evaluation and with each session.
The parent is directly involved in the process and may discharge the child as appropriate.
